Pitch Sessions
At Writers Crown, we offer exclusive Pitch Sessions that give our authors the opportunity to present their books directly to film producers and executives. This is an important first step in gaining visibility within the highly competitive film industry. By pitching their work to key decision-makers, authors increase the likelihood of their books being considered for film adaptations. Without this crucial introduction, it can be challenging to get noticed, but our Pitch Sessions provide the direct access needed to potentially take their stories to the big screen.
What Are Writers Crown Pitch Sessions?
You've written your feature screenplay or TV pilot, and you believe it's ready for the market. But how do you know if your script or pitch is in the best shape to take your project—or your career—to the next level?
Whether you're preparing to find (or switch) representation, or planning to send your script to production companies, studios, or buyers, Writers Crown Pitch Sessions are a great first step to ensure you’re on the right track.
For nearly a decade, Writers Crown has maintained professional relationships with over 1,000 industry experts, including development executives, managers, and producers. These professionals collaborate with us to listen to your pitch, provide valuable feedback, and discover scripts they might not otherwise come across. With their guidance, you can refine your script and pitch, making sure you’re fully prepared to go to market.
How Does a Pitch via Skype or Phone Work?
Having a great script is one thing, but you also need to be prepared to pitch it, whether in person or virtually. Knowing the ins and outs of your pitch will give you the best chance for success. That’s where we come in.
In our Skype or Phone pitch sessions, you can pitch face-to-face via Skype or over the phone directly with the executive of your choice. The pitch lasts 8 minutes in total. We recommend using 5-6 minutes to present your project and leaving 2-3 minutes for feedback or questions from the executive.
This is an excellent way to practice pitching your material while establishing a connection with an industry professional who specializes in your project’s genre and format. Would you like tips on how to pitch live? Download our pitching guidebook here.
How Does a Written Pitch Work?
If you're not yet comfortable pitching live, don’t worry! You can also submit a written pitch of up to 2 pages. This option is perfect for writers who prefer to communicate their ideas on paper rather than in person, and it offers more flexibility if you can’t attend a live session.

5 Tips for a Successful Pitch
Executives listening to your pitch are there to help you succeed. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your session:
-
Start by briefly introducing yourself and your connection to the material.
-
Provide the title, logline, genre(s), and comparable film or TV titles.
-
Set up the world of your story, introduce the protagonist, and then dive into the story pitch.
-
Less is more! Keep your pitch clear, concise, and engaging. Don’t try to pack too much into your 5-6 minutes—leave time for questions and answers.
-
Be polite and receptive. The feedback you receive is invaluable for understanding how your project fits into the marketplace.
Important Note: Please do not ask the executive if they want to read your script during the pitch or reach out to them outside of the Writers Crown platform. Doing so can have the opposite effect. If there is interest in your script, we will facilitate the request professionally.
These sessions are designed to mirror industry-standard pitching environments, so be sure to come prepared. If you have any questions or need help, don’t hesitate to contact the Writers Crown Script Services team at any time at info@writerscrown.com. We're happy to assist you.
